I loved this film. I know I said that for most of the films we've watched but this was absolutely hilarious. At first i thought the acing was a little forced by the two "clients" but since they didn't talk much during the the sketch I couldn't tell wether it was on purpose or not, but it didn't take away from the film at all. the lawyers were perfect, they did an excellent job of making it seem like a real legal counseling session. The camera shots were pretty good. they made good use of the over the shoulder two shot which gave a "back and forth" feeling between the two lawyers. great film
I thought this was great. At the very beginning I thought the dialogue was a little cheesy and didn't read honest from the actors, but the style of dialogue became very justified once he grabbed the consent form. I really loved bringing in the lawyers. Without that quirk it would have been six minutes of them discussing what they like to do in bed and that would have just been uncomfortable and uninteresting. I also loved that once they got to the sex positions they never mentioned one. They're simply "Articles 1-7 & 13." And apparently never 20, which I don't even want to know! Loved it, nothing bad to say about it.
I thought it was cute. At first I thought you were showing us a PSA. But the lawyers were hilarious. I liked that the couple acted with their facial expressions. Also how the lawyers got so into it, it was almost like they were arguing for themselves, but the roles were reversed. I liked the opening shot, and that the set was symmetrical.
Josh Berry: This short was very creative. I like the idea of conveying "pleasurable" advancements through law interpretation. When he first brought out the consent form, I was thinking "this is a clever idea", but the lawyers topped everything off. I don't really have anything negative to say about it. Even the camera work was complimentary for this type of film. The dark edges around the screen enhanced the 'seductive', 'sensual' feel.
Andy Barksdale: This short was a lot of fun to watch. As pretty much everyone has already said, the main idea is really clever and takes the story to a place I wasn't expecting at the beginning. And for being set in one place, especially in a bedroom, the film never seems visually uninteresting or boring; the shots and lighting really help serve the story that's being told. It's kind of a play on "intimate" storytelling, and I liked that the style reflected that. The two actors playing the lawyers were really good, too, and I liked the choice to have each lawyer be the opposite gender of their client. I think it added another dimension to the humor in a film that was already really funny.
This was a very entertaining short. It was the perfect length for a joke like that (skit-length) and the dialogue was rapid and witty. I was a bit taken aback and amused when the lawyers first appeared and from then on it was hilarious. The acting was solid and it was as visually interesting as the premise and setting would allow. On a side note, I can't figure out whether this came out before or after the Chappelle's Show sketch with the same exact joke in 2004 as well.
I thought this short was a very creative and hilarious film. It was able to effectively create humor by taking such an awkward subject and making it so serious it was actually funny. I was a little annoyed at the lighting of the film because I felt like I couldn't quite see the lawyers expressions but I guess that dark lighting added to the mood of the film and created a mysterious feel for the characters. The film also had a funny ending that left what happens next up to the viewers. There was also very good writing as well.
I forgot where I have seen this before but it was much funnier this time for some reason. The script was very well written and I liked how the lawyers were acting as if they were inside each one of the characters that they were representing making it flow quicker rather than asking each person every time if they agreed or not. The shots were very simple, nothing more than a few camera setups but it worked. I didn't really think that the ending with the other girl walking in was the best way to end it, I feel they probably could've found something a little funnier to end on.
